Need to rent a live trap for your TNR community cat appointment?

Humane Ohio requires any community cats coming in for spay/neuter to be in a humane live trap for the safety of the cats and our staff. If you do not have a live trap, or are not able to borrow one from friends or family, Humane Ohio does offer live trap rentals for your convenience!

*Please read over carefully as our trap rental policy has updated for 2026

Here's what you need to know:

    • Live traps can be rented ahead of time with a $80 deposit, CASH OR CHECK ONLY, that will be refunded to you when the trap is returned
        • If you rent a live trap the same day as your appointment, the rental deposit increases to $100 and you are subject to a $15 transfer fee (CASH OR CARD ONLY)
        • Live trap(s) must be returned within 30 days of renting, or your deposit will be forfeited. If you need more time with the trap, contact us at info@humaneohio.org
    • Limit of 3 traps person/household
    • If you do not know how to use a live trap, one of our staff members will show you how to operate the trap
    • Trap rentals are only for those who have a pending appointment with Humane Ohio to get their community cats fixed

You may come to the clinic anytime during our business hours to rent a live trap, though be mindful of our lobby closure from 12-1PM daily.

Same Day Trap Rental Policy:

      • $100 trap rental deposit, either cash or card, plus a $15 transfer fee to cover our staff's time/effort for moving the cat(s). This is per cat.
      • Cats are NOT to be transferred in your vehicle or in the parking lot. If you are caught doing so, your trap loan deposit will be forfeited and you will no longer be eligible to rent traps from Humane Ohio again.
      • If you come to your appointment with a cat loose in your car and plan to rent a trap that same day, your appointment will have to be rescheduled when you are properly prepared for your appointment.
